Appointment information

Booking an appointment

For the best choice of appointments, or if you need to see a particular clinician, please book ahead. Appointments can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance. We do have some on-the-day appointments to see a doctor but these are for urgent or unexpected medical problems and they go very quickly in the mornings.

There is a duty doctor available from 8:30am until 6:30pm for medically urgent problems.

Appointments can be booked in person, over the telephone, or via on- line access (see Information page for details of our on-line access).  Unfortunately we are unable to book appointments via email.

We offer the following appointments:

On-the-day appointments: For urgent or unexpected medical problems.
Pre-bookable appointments: Available up to 4 weeks in advance.
Telephone Consultations: Ideal for patients that do not feel that they need to be seen in person.
Home Visits: For patients who are housebound and unable to attend the surgery.

Details of the days and times of individual doctors can be found on the practice information tab, GP sessions.

Appointments are booked at 10 minute intervals.  We try to keep appointments to 10 minutes to avoid unnecessary delay for other patients.  Double appointments are available for some more complex problems, or for people who need additional help (eg: interpreters or carers).  If you feel you may need more than 10 minutes, please discuss this with the receptionist when booking your appointment.

Cancellations, missed appointments and late policies

You can help us improve access. If you are unable to attend for your appointment, please ring and cancel, giving us at least 2 hours notice so that your appointment can be offered to someone else.  If the telephone lines are busy when you telephone, just leave a message on the answer phone (option 3 when you ring). If you miss 3 appointments or more without informing us, you may be off-listed.

If you arrive late for your appointment we will ask you to rebook.  This policy was introduced at the request of the Patient Participation Group in order to reduce waiting times for patients.

GP bookable sessions at Battersea Fields Practice

Battersea Fields Practice has a number of full-time and part-time GPs.  We are also a training practice for trainee GPs. Please ask at reception for appointments with trainee GPs.

You can see any doctor, but for on-going health issues it is generally better to see the same person for the same issue.
